Natural Aphrodisiacs – add Some Spice this Valentine’s Day

Food and sex – for some an unsavoury thought – but this Valentine’s we want to show you how filling up on these natural aphrodisiacs can help get passions flowing…

Let’s face it when you’re ‘baby making’ and especially if you’ve been trying for some time it can most definitely take the magic out of doing it. Why not spice things up with a romantic Valentine’s meal for two, full of natural aphrodisiacs to really get things going.

Nutrition is of course the foundation of good health, including fertility, so give your body some love by including some of these delicious foods into your Valentine meal.

We have all heard that oysters are a great aphrodisiac but other shellfish can work in just the same way. Research has found they are rich in amino acids that trigger increased levels of sex hormones, plus they contain high levels of zinc which is ultra important for fertility.

Chilli, ginger and cinnamon can quite literally spice up your love life by increasing endorphins and keeping the blood flowing where you need it most.

Nuts, in particular pine nuts, are full of energising zinc, they are great in a pesto with fresh basil and olive oil, which is full of monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats, critical for a healthy heart, blood flow and hormone production.

Fruits like strawberries, watermelon, cherries, pomegranates and bananas are all up there on the list too, they are loaded with vitamins and minerals that can work like a natural Viagra. They are also full of antioxidants and Vitamin C for good blood flow and increased energy levels.

And last but not least, dark chocolate increases endorphins so is prefect to include in your Valentine’s meal plan.

Go on, get relaxed, get in the mood, go with the flow and enjoy the romance of this special day.
